With the nation’s focus on stimulating the housing markets most states are offering additional assistance programs to help new home buyers. Hawaii is no exception. Hawaii’s  ADDI program (AMERICAN DREAM DOWN PAYMENT INITIATIVE) which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through its Home Investment Partnerships Program. Funds are allocated through the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation to the County of Hawaii. The purpose of the County of Hawaii’s American Dream Down Payment Initiative (ADDI) Program is to make available deferred mortgage loans to low-income first-time Homebuyers on the island of Hawaii for down payment and/or closing cost assistance to purchase an existing dwelling unit to be used as their primary residence. The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) will administer this federally funded program through with the goal to increase home ownership opportunities for low-income households.
